Trip on Your Dick Trickle Award, Pocono #2
This week it has to go to Robby. He was running pretty good on the first stint until he douched away the track position with a pit road speed penalty. Then he has to go and mess with Stremme and sink both of their days. Consequently, both of them are now mathamatecally eliminated from the chase after Pocono.
Perhaps Robby's most agregious offence was to try to reincarnate himself in the image of Dale Earnhardt with his "Man in Black" / "I don't have a sponsor" campaign. Take the "L" out of the "Man in Black" and you might be on to something.
Honorable mention to Bobby Labonte who looked nothing like a past champion.

This call is absolutely right!!! He's running decent, ruins it with the pit road speeding and then decides to mix it up with another back marker....classic RG!
And that "Man in Black" campaign/whateveryouwannacallit is just plain weird...spending time (and resources) making videos about the fact that you don't have a sponsor?
The #7 team has the potential to run up front... if they made a driver change.

For years everybody has been saying how great of a driver RG is. The only thing on that team that has not changed is the driver. The only thing that has remained constant are the results. Do the math. Robby may be a well rounded talent but it is clear he excels in the sportsman world of off-road racing. I admire the effort but at some point you need to call a spade a spade.

RG is a good wheelman, but "talent" has more aspects than that, such as the MENTAL aspect....i.e. patience, tempered aggression, not playing the 'driver seat quarterback' game, being a TEAM player and having a TEAM mentality. RG is sorely lacking in the mental game department.
Blaming bad luck, employees, money, lack of data, etc. doesn't work anymore. Blame game is OVER - and Nine is right - RG is the ONLY common denominator to be attributed to the poor results.
But I hope he stays around - he makes for great comic fodder!!!
